The AlaskaNor Project at Nord University’s High North Center for Business and Governance is extending invitation for an exclusive business networking excursion to Anchorage, Alaska and San Francisco, California, slated for November 17-23, 2019. This excursion is intended for entrepreneurs, current and upcoming business leaders in the ocean-based economic sectors, politicians, as well as public sector executives working to cultivate new business and entrepreneurial collaboration between Alaska and North Norway.

Through a series of curated events, organized in partnership with the Alaska Resource Development Council, the World Trade Center Anchorage, the Alaska World Affairs Council, and the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce participants will have opportunities to:

  • Showcase their projects;
  • Learn about the Alaska economy and developing business opportunities;
  • Build relationships with Alaskan business leaders, international investors, and new potential partners
  • Lean new strategies from financiers, and business accelerators

The week-long excursion will be centred around three key events.

The Alaska Resource Development Council’s Annual Conference is Alaska’s largest business conference, drawing business and political leaders from across the state. Attendees will meet stakeholders and business executives from all of Alaska’s leading economic sectors, including oil and gas, technology, fisheries, shipping and transport, tourism construction, and mining. The Conference will provide the opportunity to gain insights into Alaskan energy trends, market needs and the growth potential of the broader US market.

Private Investments in the High North: Investment potentials in Alaska and Northern Norway, organized in cooperation with the Alaska World Affairs Council, will highlight private investment strategies, presented by leading international investment figures. This offers a unique opportunity to learn from successful financiers on the topic of private investments in the Alaska/US market, and potential transferences to Norwegian businesses. The event also introduces principles for responsible investments in the Arctic granted in the Arctic Investment Protocol, presented by the Arctic Economic Council (AEC).

Blue Investments in the Arctic, taking place in San Francisco is a match-making event that brings together innovative businesses from the Silicon Valley and North Norwegian entrepreneurial communities, to boost the economic potential of North Norway’s blue economy. The event will be organized by the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in San Francisco and Innovation Norway, San Francisco.
